Rachel was invited to join the Standard Transmissions Production crew for the 2016 Macy’s Christmas Windows season where she focused on fabricating the Santa and Mrs. Claus bodies featured in the NYC, Chicago, and Washington, DC windows using a soft sculpture method in foam. Additionally she worked on the large gold deer head made with the same soft sculpture process. The evening started with a sparkling champagne tower and soundtrack by La Vie En Rose and Tinsel favorite DJ Marvin. Carrying the visual motifs and color palette beyond the ballroom, Tinsel created an inviting branded photo vignette of which guests took full advantage. Adjacent was a gilded gifting wall, playfully distributing summit-related trivia, “treat” gifts of luxury bon bons, and even the occasional rubber snake “trick”! After all, it was Halloween. After being welcomed through a bodega stocked with snacks and brews for the taking, a stunningly gilded dinner opened into to a hallway of laundry machines and gigantic suds framing the stage for the band PUP. We transformed the sprawling venue Brooklyn Mirage/Avant Gardner into the diverse and always colorful spaces of New York City. To dress the 7 individual rooms we created, Tinsel sourced everything from laundry machines to vintage hair salon dryer chairs. The evening included a powerful performance by Natalie Merchant and was topped off with a lively after party featuring vogue performers. More than 900 guests attended, raising over $3 million for the park. Rachel received OSHA 10 certification along with the Mirage crew.
